AI Experimentation

This final composite is the result of multiple AI face mashups of people who have suffered deaths related to I.C.E. and Homeland security activities. I incorporated an overlayed graphic of the 468 facial landmark points used by AI surveillance apps used to scan faces. The result is a net-like mesh over the face with its points melding into the background cosmic starry void. Various segmented faces from multiple individuals are visible throughout the mesh. In total, there are 20 people in this composite, with some more visible than others. This particular composite leans more toward the female detainees than the male ones. The cloud-design hooded robe was generated with AI. I was able to utilize the glitch effects in the app called Gliché. Once the parts pieces were generated with AI assistance, I created and composited the final composition with multiple layers in Photoshop Beta. This image was printed large and served as a focal point for an ofrenda installation, for an exhibit called Ecos del Alma, at ArtSpace 304 in Carbondale, IL.
