It's been awhile since I have made a post about this long-term photo project, but I have been contacted by two donor-conceived people who are actually half sisters that share the same father. Once I received their encoded DNA pattern, I began transcoding it visually via assigning swatch patterns. The end goal is to finish both quilt before summer, so that I can travel and make portraits of these two subjects.
I was making great progress last spring, but I had to halt production because my wife wanted to open a business, which ultimately consumed 40+ hours of my time, in addition to teaching full time. Below are a few earlier snapshots of me making sense and building a legend for the DNA data in my sewing room.
